How to fix blurry car headlights

Blurred headlights plague thousands of car owners around the world. You can use headlight repair kits or tools bought in auto parts stores to repair the lights. This saves a lot of money for lamp replacement, which is convenient and affordable. The big advantage of this method is that anyone can repair the headlights without special training or special tools. If you can find the kind of non-corrosive "headlight deoxidizer", it can be done in one minute.

Method 1: Use glass water

1. Determine whether the problem comes from the inside or outside of the car headlight glass. If you see moisture inside, you need to remove the headlights to dry it. (Before you try the following method, try "headlight deoxidizer", it can save you time, and it is not corrosive.) Decide which steps can be avoided according to the degree of damage or oxidation of your headlight glass Do. The worse the headlights are, the more time it will take to clean them. If the headlights are too bad, they have to be replaced.

2. If the exterior of the car headlight glass is dirty, clean it with glass water or degreasing agent.

3. Then spray on the scratch polishing agent, the abrasive in this spray is what you need.

4. Follow the steps written on the polish bottle and avoid direct sunlight. Do not spray it on the black plastic parts. If sprayed, it will leave a white film that is difficult to remove.

5. Use a car polisher to clean car lights faster and better. A layer of wax can keep the lights as bright as new for a long time.

Method 2: Use masking tape

1. Using 3M's car headlight lens repair system kit can make work easier. It contains tape, sandpaper, polish and instructions, and you can find a video demonstration on the Internet.

2. Cover the area around the headlights. Use masking tape to protect the painted surface, do not use cloth tape. The cloth tape will stick the paint off the car.

3. Clean the car light glass.

Use sandpaper. Don't forget that after using the sandpaper, more steps are needed to remove the scratches left by the sandpaper. First moisten the sandpaper with soapy water.

Spray detergent or soap and water (also degreasing agent) on the glass of the car light. Then wipe it with a clean towel or rag.

4. Remove the oxide layer.

Dip your fingers in some lens polish or other lens cleaning solution. Spread it evenly on the light glass while it is still wet.

Take out a scrub sponge or a soft pad, and prepare the sandpaper you just decided to use. In most cases, the number 600 is generally used.

Fold the sandpaper into thirds and place it on the sanding sponge or soft cushion.

Dip sandpaper and sponge in some soapy water.

Move left and right, and sand evenly, and moisten the sponge and sandpaper with soapy water from time to time. (Be careful not to touch the car paint when sanding.)

5. Polish the glass surface of the car light while keeping the surface moist.

Sand with No. 1200, then continue to sand with finer No. 2000 sandpaper, and then sand with No. 2500 sandpaper. Until the scratches left by the sanding are removed.

After sanding with No. 2500 sandpaper, spray a mist of polish on the headlights, and then wipe them off with a car towel.

Use soapy water or car cleaner to clean the lights. This is to remove the remaining polishing agent.

6. Wax the car light glass.

It should be noted that this is only a preview of the headlights after cleaning. If you are not satisfied, you can repeat steps 1 to 5 above until the glass is transparent.

In order to seal, apply a layer of wax or silicone sealant on the side of the lamp glass.

Fold the car wiping towel into four, and put some wax or polish on it. Wait a few seconds to let it completely immerse in the towel.

Use a towel to apply wax layer by layer from left to right until the wax is applied to the light glass.

7. Check the cleanliness of the lights. The headlights are as bright as new after being repaired, and you are safer to drive at night.

Method 3: Use toothpaste

1. Put on rubber gloves and try various types of toothpaste, including gel-type ones. Fortunately, whitening toothpaste containing silicon.

2. Wash off the sand and dust on the light glass.

3. Don't get the cleaning agent or polishing agent on the paint or plastic. Use masking tape and plastic film to protect the paint.

4. Put a little toothpaste on the car wiping cloth or soft cloth, and wipe the car light glass in a circle, paying particular attention to the fuzzy or scratched areas.

5. Add some more toothpaste, and then rub it vigorously, you will find that the car light glass is more transparent.

6. When the glass starts to become more transparent, add more water and toothpaste. Each lamp needs to be rubbed for 3 to 5 minutes.

7. When it is almost wiped, wash it with water several times, and then dry it with a paper towel or soft cloth.

8. In order to seal, apply a layer of wax or silicone sealant on the side of the car light glass.
